How to import an SQL file using the command line in Mysql

In this Tutorial We Learn How to Import and Database Sql File using Mysql Command Line.

Note:before Import database Go to your phpmyadmin and create a database and remeber your database name its require in below..

A).For Windows:

Step 1.Open cmd and go to your xampp folder inside C:\xampp\mysql\bin Localtion open this location in cmd

simple open your cmd and go to your path using

cd C:\xampp\mysql\bin

Step 2.I assume your sql file in D drive in any new folder inside ok so

mysql -u root -p mydbname < "D:\NewFolder\mydb.sql"

Here -u represent user and -p represent password but rember here -u after we give username root(you give your database username) but after -p we not give password after -p we give our database name which I mantion on Note. then after "<" symbol represent import file and after double quote inside we added path to the sql file.

Step 3.after write step do in cmd hit the enter in the next line he asked password then you enter your phpmyadmin password and hit enter.

Step4.If you not got any error your database import is begin and you need to wait for it.

B).For Ubuntu/Linux

Step 1.Open terminal run

mysql -u root -p mydbname < "/NewFolder/mydb.sql"

Step 2.after write step do in cmd hit the enter in the next line he asked password then you enter your phpmyadmin password and hit enter.

Step 3.If you not got any error your database import is begin and you need to wait for it.
